Good to know
Traveling to India requires a (tourist) visa. For short stays in India up to 60 days there is the option of an "e-Visa" at most international Indian airports (in Kerala: Trivandrum and Cochin). An online registration and payment before the arrival is necessary. Detailed information about the procedure you can find here For a stay exceeding 60 days you will need to go to an Indian commission, situated in larger cities throughout your home country. Alternatively, there is the possibility of hiring an online agency (usually cheaper than the travel expenses to embassy / search in Google for: India visa agency). After filling out documents online you need to send them with your passport via the postal service and they will go to the comission and send it back with the visa inside.
Depending on the duration of your stay, several vaccinations are recommended.
Important to have are at least hepatitis A + B and typhoid vaccinations. Other protections like DTP, R rabies and cholera are good to have for longer stays. You can get information and vaccinations from your doctor or in travel / outdoor stores (i.e. globetrotter) as sometimes they will have a travel vaccination service where you can get information as well as vaccinations. Some medical insurances will cover most of the costs.
